How to install OS maps onto a Garmin GPS unit - Ordnance Survey maps

In this article and video, we look at how to install an OS, Ordnance Survey map card into a Garmin GPSMAP67/ GPSMAP67i and a Garmin Montana GPS unit.

  1. Open the SD Card Slot Cover

: Gently remove or lift the protective cover over the slot.

  2. Insert the Card into the GPS unit

    - Align the card with the slot, ensuring the contacts face the correct direction (usually downwards or towards the device, depending on the model).

    - Insert the card until it clicks into place. Do not force it, if it doesn’t fit, check the orientation.

  3. Close the Cover

    - Ensure the slot is sealed to protect against dirt or moisture

  4. Power on the GPS Unit

    - Turn your Garmin device back on.

    - The device should automatically detect the OS map card by default.

    - You might see a loading screen or a notification indicating the map is being read, and it may take a little while as it loads for the first time.

  5. Verify Installation

    - Go to the map view and zoom in on a detailed area to ensure the OS map is displaying correctly.

    - If the map doesn't appear, double-check that the card is properly inserted.
