First look at the all-new Suunto Race 2

Today, the all-new Suunto Race 2 was launched. We have been using this watch for a couple of weeks now, so let's unbox it and tell you our thoughts on this new watch from Suunto.

In the video below, Andy from GPS Training takes you through an unboxing of the brand-new model and highlights what makes it different from the original Suunto Race.

What’s New with the Suunto Race 2?

- Refined Design – A slimmer profile (12.5 mm vs 13.3 mm) and smoother bezel give the Race 2 a sleeker look and feel.

- Stronger Charging Cradle – The redesigned USB-C magnetic cradle provides a more secure fit and faster charging.

- Improved Optical Heart Rate Sensor – Includes blood oxygen monitoring and VO₂ max readings for more accurate fitness tracking.

- Sapphire Glass Display – Tough, scratch-resistant glass across both steel and titanium models.

- Bigger & Brighter Screen – Now 1.5" AMOLED (up from 1.43") with improved brightness for outdoor use.

- More Memory – All models now feature 32 GB, perfect for storing detailed offline colour maps.

- Weight Savings – The steel version weighs 76 g (down from 83 g), while the titanium drops to just 65 g.

Suunto Race 2 – Hands-On with Screens & Navigation

Following on from our unboxing, this second video takes you inside the Suunto Race 2 itself. Andy from GPS Training runs through the watch’s bright AMOLED display, navigation features, and the wealth of fitness and adventure data you can access right on your wrist.

Key Features in Action

- Brilliant AMOLED screen – crisp, bright, and responsive, with customisable watch faces.

- Touchscreen & scroll wheel – intuitive control that makes it easy to flick through screens or zoom/pan maps.

- Full offline colour maps – plan routes in the Suunto app or Komoot, then follow them on your watch with turn alerts and off-course warnings.

- Adventure-ready tools – barometric altimeter, compass, sunrise/sunset times, weather data, recovery stats, and sleep tracking.

- Fitness & training insights – optical heart rate, blood oxygen monitoring, VO₂ max estimates, HRV, steps, calories, and over 100 sport modes.

- Battery life – up to 50 hours in all-satellite mode with full navigation enabled.

Built for Outdoor Adventures

The Race 2 isn’t just a fitness tracker – it’s an adventure GPS watch. From trail running and cycling to multi-day hikes, it provides the maps, data, and durability you need. And with its sapphire glass and steel or titanium options, it’s tough enough to take anywhere.
