Course Overview
Get confident with your Garmin GPS and learn how to plan, transfer and follow your own walking routes.
Owning a GPS is one thing. Feeling confident enough to actually use it when you're out walking is another.
Our one-day Garmin GPS Training course is a friendly, practical day designed to help you understand your GPS and, most importantly, give you the confidence to use it when you're out exploring on your own.
We keep our courses hands-on. You'll spend time indoors learning how your GPS works and getting the important settings right, then head outside and put what you've learnt into practice.
During the day we'll cover everything from waypoints and following routes to TrackBack, creating a route or course directly on your GPS and planning your own walks using our GPS Training Ordnance Survey Route Planner.
By the end of the course, our aim is for you to understand not just which buttons to press, but why and when to use them.
Your training doesn't finish at the end of the course
Everyone attending the course also receives one year's access to the GPS Training online resource and one year's email support, normally worth £80.
That means when you get home and can't quite remember how we did something, you're not left trying to work it out alone.
The Online Resource gives you access to our training material and GPS Training OS Route Planner, so you can continue practising and building your confidence long after the course has finished.
Is this course for me?
This course is designed for the newer generation of Garmin handheld GPS devices, including:
Garmin eTrex 22x, 32x, SE, Solar & NEW Touch • GPSMAP 65, 66, 67, 86, H1 & H1i Plus • Montana 700 Series
Don't worry if you're fairly new to GPS navigation. That's exactly what the day is for. We'll build your knowledge throughout the course and give you plenty of opportunities to use your own GPS and ask questions.
Please bring your GPS with you, together with the USB cable supplied with your unit.
If you don't yet own a Garmin GPS, or you'd like to try a different model, please let us know before the course. We may be able to provide one of our loan GPS units for you to use during the day.
If you're thinking about upgrading your GPS or need any accessories, we'll also have a selection of GPS units and accessories available to purchase on the day. It's a great opportunity to look at the different options, ask us questions and make sure you're choosing the right equipment for you.
