Jetboil Cooking Systems – Which One is Right for You?

What is a Jetboil?

A Jetboil is a compact, all-in-one outdoor cooking system designed to boil water quickly and efficiently.

Unlike traditional camping stoves, Jetboil systems combine a stove burner and cooking cup in one neat unit. The cup locks directly onto the burner, making it more stable and much faster to heat.

Why hikers love Jetboil:

Super-fast boil times – a hot drink in just a couple of minutes

Lightweight & compact – packs neatly into your rucksack

Fuel efficient – uses less gas than a standard stove

Easy to use – push-button ignition and no fiddly setup

Perfect for:

- Making tea or coffee on the go

- Rehydrating freeze-dried meals

- Quick hot water on wild camps or long hikes

Think of it as the fastest, easiest way to get hot water outdoors – whether you’re solo on a mountain top or camping with friends.

Which Jetboil is right for you?

Whether you’re grabbing a quick brew on a cold Lakeland summit, simmering a proper camp meal in the Cairngorms, or feeding a small group on the trail, Jetboil stoves are among the most reliable and efficient cooking systems for UK adventures.

We stock three Jetboil systems, each designed for slightly different needs:

- Jetboil Flash 1.0L Fast Boil System – for fast brews and simple meals

- Jetboil MicroMo Cooking System – for personal cooking with simmer control

- Jetboil SuMo Cooking System – for group cooking with a larger capacity

Here’s what makes each one stand out.

Jetboil Flash 1.0L Fast Boil System

The Jetboil Flash is the go-to choice for anyone who wants hot water in a hurry. Whether it’s tea, coffee, or rehydrating a freeze-dried meal, the Flash is all about speed and simplicity.

- Boils water in seconds – Even in cold conditions, it delivers rapid boils when paired with quality gas like MSR IsoPro.

- Improved reliability – The latest model has a ceramic-encased Piezo igniter, which is far more durable than older versions.

- Stable in the wild – Comes with a pot stabiliser as standard, making it safer on uneven ground while reducing the risk of the canister freezing.

Fuel efficient – You can leave the canister attached between uses to avoid unnecessary gas loss.

It’s perfect for solo hikers, pairs, or small groups who mainly need hot water, not full-on cooking.

Jetboil MicroMo Cooking System

Want more versatility and proper cooking control? The Jetboil MicroMo is the lightest regulated Jetboil system, weighing just 340g (12oz), yet it still delivers 6,000 BTUs of power.

Unlike the Flash (which just blasts water to a boil), the MicroMo lets you simmer gently, so you can actually cook things like pasta, porridge, or scrambled eggs.

- Advanced regulator valve technology – Allows incremental heat adjustment, from a light simmer to a rolling boil.

- Cold weather performance – Works consistently down to -6°C (20°F), making it more reliable for UK winter use.

- Compact but capable – Boils 500ml of water in around 2 minutes 15 seconds, with one 100g gas canister good for ~24 boils.

- Smart design – Includes a 0.8L FluxRing cup with an insulated sleeve, a drink-through lid with strainer, and a base that doubles as a measuring cup or bowl.

- Accessory friendly – Works with Jetboil’s coffee press, skillet, and pot support for even more flexibility.

The MicroMo is ideal for solo hikers who want a lightweight yet fully functional cooking setup.

Jetboil SuMo Cooking System

Need to cook for more than one person? The Jetboil SuMo is the largest regulated cooking system Jetboil makes, with a 1.8L FluxRing cooking cup, making it perfect for groups of up to four.

Despite the larger size, it still only weighs 450g (16oz) and packs down neatly, with space to store a 230g gas canister, the burner, stabiliser, and pot support inside.

- Group-ready capacity – Boil up to a litre of water in 4 minutes 15 seconds, and a single 230g canister can heat 24 litres of water.

- Same great regulator valve technology – Like the MicroMo, it has unbeatable simmer control, so you can make big meals without burning food.

- Cold weather reliable – Performs consistently down to -6°C (20°F).

- Versatile – Comes with the same drink-through lid with spout and strainer, and a base that doubles as a measuring cup/bowl. Compatible with accessories like the Jetboil skillet and coffee press.

The SuMo is the best option for small groups who want to cook and eat together without needing multiple stoves.
